All About Officer Ricardo Lizarraga
Ricardo Lizarraga was born on January 24, 1973. He grew up in Los Angeles and enjoyed sports while in school. He excelled in baseball and played football at Hamilton High School. He later attended Santa Monica City College.
Officer Lizarraga joined Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on September 25, 2001. He joined the Newton Division and used his bilingual skills to help families. He was a kind and caring officer.
On February 20, 2004, Officer Lizarraga along with his partner Officer Ruiz responded to a call and tragically he paid the ultimate sacrifice all while serving his community.
People of South Los Angeles remember his courage and his dedication to the community. Not only did we lose a devoted officer, we lost a friend, who was easy to speak to and was easy to love.
Today and everyday we remember his courage and love.
Every year around his birthday, the Ricardo Lizarraga Elementary community along with LAPD Newton Division and family and friends of Officer Lizarraga celebrate the impact and contributions of Officer Ricardo Lizarraga.
